A new way to log into your blog

Hi Max,
I have learnt a new trick and made a little change to your blog - before I did this there was a button you could accidently push and then you might see rude things - so now when you log in to write a post to need to click on the little white sticker that says 'blogger' on it.
Hope it works for you, otherwise email me and I can explain more.
Sorry to make it a bit tricky on you and your mum

Your school work for this week - Week 3

Hello Max,
You are such a good artist! I am really enjoying seeing the pictures you draw on the blog. We had a look at your blog today as a class and everyone wanted to look at all the pictures.
It is a pity Skype didn't work out today but we will keep trying - try us again tomorrow at 11.15am. We are going on a trip to the museum on Wednesday so won't be able to Skype you that day but then we will back back on Thursday again to talk to you.
I have a bag with some new reading books and also lots of fractions worksheets for you to do - I just need to remember to send it over to Georgie to take home for you.
Keep up the reading and writing, and you can do the maths worksheets when you feel like it. There are lots in the bag and I don't expect you to do them all in one week unless you really want to.
It is good to have Bailey back at school - you should come and visit us one day - Bailey would take good care of you if you did and everyone would be so happy to see you.

Thank you Max!

Hi Max,

I just wanted to say thank you for the lovely present you gave me today - I always need platters to use when I have people over to my house and the ones you gave me are really nice! I couldn't give you a real car so I thought I would give you this sticker instead.

Have a great weekend playing with Bailey.

Miss Thomas
P.S. This afternoon I showed you mum how to put photos on the blog so give it a try - you can draw all kinds of stuff and take a photo of it to put on the blog. The class really enjoys reading your blog and especially seeing the photos on it!

Some Cool Fractions Work for You

Hi Max,

We have been playing some really cool games in class on the computer to practise fractions and geometry. I will email your mum the passwords tomorrow so that you can use the games from home too. You will remember Number Trains from when you were at school and we have some new ones now.

Great Work Max!!

Hello Max,
I am so impressed with how hard you are working on your school work this week! I can't give you a sticker or make you an early bird because I am not there with you, BUT I can give you an online sticker! I chose Nemo because we have been reading the 'Gardens Under the Sea Book'.

We have been really enjoying talking to you on Skype Max. I have been choosing 5 people each day who get to talk to you while we are doing our writing on the Smartboard. Everyone always wants to talk to you! We really loved the photo of you that is on your blog so send us some more - maybe you could take some photos of your cats and write about them - that would be cool.

Anyway, talk to you tomorrow on Skype. Keep up the hard work.

Miss Thomas

P.S. Miss Naidoo is coming to visit our class on Friday at 10am this week - you could come and visit too if you like. We would love to see you!!

Your School Work for Next Week - Week 2

Hi Max,
You have done a great job of keeping up with the class this week. I am going to list here the things I want you to do next week:

Reading
Each day read 1 book - I am giving you a junior journal too which has lots of stories for you to read but you can do your work on one story in it. Just like last week your group is learning to read the book and write down 3 bullet points of things they learnt in the book.
The book called 'Gardens of the Sea' is our big book this week. Please read it and make 3 bullet points of things you learnt. Then on the back cover there is an example of how to draw a 'can you find' scene. I would like you to draw a scene like that. The children in the class will also be doing one. If you take a photo of your picture and email it to me I can put it on the blog for everyone to see.

Writing
We will be writing a recount of the Gardener Storyteller Visit. You can choose something to write about - I will send your red dictionary home with Georgie for you to use at home. You can choose to write on the blog or on paper and then get mum to type it on. I would like you to write 3 sentences each day this week.
Remember that if you are writing on paper you need to sound out your words and underline ones you need to check with your dictionary. After you finish your story you can use your red dictionary to check the words. If you write straight on to the blog you don't need to worry about correcting your words.

Maths
We are learning about fractions this term. Your group is learning to read the fractions - 1/2, 1/4, 1/3, 2/4, 3/4, 2/3 etc. They are going to play a fractions bingo game and I will send home a copy you could play against mum. The next lesson your group is learning to share things out - I will send home a worksheet for you to practise that too. Keep up the mathletics and look if there is any fraction work on there you could do.

Inquiry
We are starting our inquiry into fabrics and fibres. Can you write a list for me of 20 things in your house made of fabric or fibre. Then you can think about which are fabrics and which are fibres.

That should keep you pretty busy. We will still try skype each day at about 11.05am. Let's hope it works this week!!

Have a great weekend - can you ask Georgie to come and pick up the books for you on Monday?

Photos

Hi Again Max,
I also wanted to show you some photos I took of the children who were talking to you on skype today. Talk to you again on there tomorrow we hope!

Hello Max!

Hi Max!
It was great to see you on Skype today - I will be getting Mr Kinane to have a look at what was wrong with our webcam as it would be good if you could see us too! The kids in the class were so excited after they talked to you and they were asking when we will skype next - they definately want to do it every day and I hope you do too!
We miss you heaps but it is nice to be able to see you even when you are at home.
Today the kids in our class had a big sandcastle building competition at lunchtime where the boys competed against the girls... I will put a photo here of what the boys made - it was crazy and I could see it all the way from the staffroom so I went and took a photo!
I do hope you can come and visit us next week because the whole class would like you to. They keep asking when you are coming back to school. I will talk to your mum and see if we can decide on a time for you to come in...

Anyway, talk to you soon

Miss Thomas

Welcome to your blog Max

Hi Max!

It was great to see you looking so well when I visited today. Here is your very own blog to do your school work on! You can write anything you like here as long as you follow the blogging rules of not giving out your phone number or address - remember people all over the world can read this.
I have put on your own map so that you will be able to see who has read your blog - I bet your granny in Scotland would love to look at your work.
To write on the blog you log in with the same username and password as the one we use at school - the one I gave your mum to use. Email me if you have any trouble and I can help you.

Your first tasks for school are:
  1. Read the book about the Marae that I gave your mum and write 3 bullet points on the blog of things you learnt about the Marae when you read the book. You can also read the other readers I gave you.
  2. Write a story on either this blog or the class writing blog every day.
  3. Use Mathletics - do at least one of the activities each day and then play some live Mathletics.
  4. I put our delicious links and also the Dance Mat Typing game on the side of this blog - under a heading called Max's Links if you want something else to do. You could also leave comments for your friends on the class writing blog.

See you soon - we will get Skype up and running so we can call you this week!
